The Importance of Heart Health - The Circulatory System

Did you know that your heart can pump blood to every cell in your body in under a minute? Or that in approximately 1 day, your heart beats 100,000 times, pumping 2,000 gallons of blood in that time period?

Heart Health

The truth is that every heartbeat and pump of blood is controlled ultimately by a crucial system to the body's daily functions; that system is that of the Circulatory System.

Heart Health

The Circulatory System is made up of two pathways, the Pulmonary Pathway and the Systemic Pathway (both stemming from the heart). Each pathway has a particular function to distribute the correct blood, in accurate amounts, to the different parts of the body. The Pulmonary Pathway carries blood from the pulmonary artery to the lungs, where the blood is purified of all carbon dioxide and then goes to the heart via the Pulmonary Veins. The Systemic Pathway is the pathway that carries the blood that was just purified from the heart to all other parts of the body.

These two distribution pathways are essential to our health because they carry the blood to our entire body flawlessly, when maintained properly; but they also carry nutrients throughout the body and remove metabolic wastes.

If your Circulatory System begins to malfunction, it could lead to arteriosclerosis, high blood pressure, arrhythmia, high cholesterol levels, stroke, obesity, heart disease or other health problems.

In order to keep your Circulatory System in check, put down the hamburger and pick up the salad.

Eating enough Heart-Healthy foods is essential to your bodies general health. Some foods that are full of nourishing, heart-healthy qualities are: Grape Seed, Flaxseed, Blueberries, Broccoli, Spinach, Fish that are rich in omega-3, dark vegetables, fresh fruit and some red wines. It is also important to make certain that your cholesterol intake is not exceeding 300 mg in your daily intake.

The last, but not to be forgotten step to keeping your circulatory system healthy is to participate in some exercise so that you strengthen your heart muscles and reduce blood fats. Not only will you stay in shape, but you will also be helping your general health a great deal.

There are also alternative all-natural medications that are also proven to help with the bodies circulation. Those products consist of: Vitamin B-12 (Folate), Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-3 (Niacin), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Magnesium, Potassium, Ginkgo Biloba, Grape Seed Extract & Cayenne.

Next meal you are having, consider putting some dark vegetables on the menu and having some fresh fruit as a dessert.
